Year-Ender Brouhahas: The Top 10 Talks**ts That I've Uttered But Never Made It

Another thing that I would remember in 2011 is when I said so many pieces but none of them happened in return. That's why I call it talks**ts, I said something that I would do but nothing happened. And in 2011, a lot of it were made so I decided to create a top list of those talks**ts that I've said but never formed real.

By the way, I could say promises or assurance or commitment or pact or pledge but why talks**t, which has a vulgar word at the second syllable. Well, maybe of its syntax which has something to do with not doing what you've promised before, so therefore, I use talks**t!

TOP 10 - DRINK LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER


I am very sorry I wasn't able to fulfill my promise on drinking water. My best buddy Kenneth told me that to have a very replenished skin and gorgeous body is to drink lots and lots, even pail of water. I used to drink at least one gallon of water but I have always this feeling of being drowned by too much drinking. Sometimes I do drink, but most of the time I forgot. Water is life, as what they say, and I believe they're true.

TOP 9 - READING BOOKS


I said to myself that too become intelligent and knowledgeable in anything I do, I should concentrate on reading books which would help me to think while working. I said also that at least a month, I should get a book and read it as fast and as clever as possible. It is really on top of my priorities but I'm afraid I can't do it because of being too busy at work and not having time for it. I also made a promise to buy at least one copy of a book, either English or Filipino. Though I did it, but still I wasn't able to open it. That's an example of a talks**t!

TOP 8 - BUY iPOD TOUCH


It was really a big time talks**t since I couldn't save from my allowance. I am having too much splurge every pay day, especially to food and since then I haven't saved even a single penny. If I do, I need it in my future use, just for nothing. I said a piece in 2010 that I will buy myself an MP3 player, preferably iPod Touch just to enjoy myself in listening to music. But, of course, the heydays of having fun with family and friend came alive and I forgot to save for my future iPod. I also said that I will buy a new phone, but why should I buy one if I still have one.

TOP 7 - PASSING REQUIREMENTS IN U.P. DILIMAN


My goodness, this has been one of the worst talks**ts I've created. I said even to my bosses in our institution that I would study Special Education so that I could learn more about it. But since I had a difficult time and having an earliest time to go into, I stopped dreaming about it. And also, it stopped my promise to pass requirements at the State University. Looks funny and sounds funny, but true.

TOP 6 - GETTING PASSPORT


And what's the purpose of getting a passport? I know that a person needs a passport for going to another country. But then, what's the purpose of getting a passport, that seems I haven't have any plans of going abroad. Good thing I didn't push through to get one but maybe in the future, I need one.

TOP 5 - THE BAGUIO VACATION

One of the funniest talks**ts I've said, and going to Baguio wasn't even put into consideration. I said to myself that by the time we will have our semester break, I'll go to Baguio for three days just to visit their places. I knew that Baguio wasn't anymore beautiful unlike before, but going to Baguio is a dream for me. My family used to visit the place and unfortunately, I was still inside of my mother's womb. Sayang talaga ang Baguio!

TOP 4 - FIND A PART-TIME JOB


And yes, I didn't pursue it. I needed a part-time job before because I was in dire need of an extra income. I went to Special Education and I could have the worst of the worst (thanks to my dear partner, Sir Froilan for telling me about it) and I should not get one first. I did it, I saw the challenges. But still, I need an extra income for my resources, since I am the only one working in our household.

TOP 3 - WATCHING CONCERTS


I said to myself to watch the concerts of Bruno Mars, Train, Toni Gonzaga and Vice Ganda. I was thinking of buying their tickets but then again, no tickets were purchased, no excitement were created and no concerts had been watched. I told myself that at least one foreign act and one local act should I watch to delight myself. I feel so guilty because I made again a promise.

TOP 2 - LOSE WEIGHT


Almost all the time, I am making this as my promise to myself but I can't achieve it. I am getting older and needs to watch my diet but what can I do? I love eating as much as I love food. Whenever I am depressed, or stressed or just plain hungry, I go outside and buy or find a perfect food to ease my worries and rise up my appetite. And sometimes, I feel difficulty in breathing and getting tired quickly. I really need a break, and I need to think first about my health and not my outside.

TOP 1 - STUDYING SPECIAL EDUCATION


Before, I used to tell myself that I was wanting to learn the knick-knacks of Special Education. I thought of studying in De La Salle University, Philippine Normal University (in which I took the entrance examination) and University of the Philippines (good thing, I didn't pursue it). I don't know; it seems that Special Education is not the thing for me, or maybe it is for me but I'm not yet prepared to have it as my newest career. I stopped dreaming to become one because my heart never accepted the fact that I can be part of their world.

With these kinds of talks**ts that I've made, you might think or you would think that I am a man who breaks promises. Well, yes, I do. And for 2012, I need to change my thing by not just saying it but proving it. I shall not make promises since it tends to be broken. As much as possible, do not say what you want to do, just go with the flow and achieve it without thinking twice. Therefore, no pretensions and no more talks**ts!!!

2 days to go before the newest year, 2012. I don't understand why am I so excited with it? New career? New memories? New love life???

Year-Ender Brouhahas: The 10 Favorite Shows of 2011

After music, I'll be giving you the round-up of the favorite shows being shown (obviously) in the nearing-end year of 2011. Yes, TV is my life. It is part of my body system and I can't live without it. Since the day I was born, I think the television set is my twin. Not only because I was being entertained but also I learned so many things from it. And this year, it is a bountiful and wonderful time watching these shows that I was really hooked into! So please, allow me to begin the 10 favorite shows that I, and you, and all of us, favored in 2011.

1. KEEPING UP WITH THE KARDASHIANS - When Sky Cable thankfully included E Entertainment Television as one of their channels, I am really hooked into it. First thing in the morning, after ABS CBN, TV5, GMA, Cinema One and MTV, guaranteed that I will go next to this channel. And I can stay for the whole day just watching some of their programs because it is about Hollywood. One example of their program that I am so hooked into this year was Keeping Up With The Kardashians. It's been seen before in another cable channel ETC but I'm not interested before. This Ryan Seacrest-produced reality programs shows the real household and drama of the Kardashian-Jenner family. With the patriarch and matriarch, Bruce Jenner and Kris Jenner (formerly Kris Kardashian but since her first husband Robert Kardashian, Sr. and their marriage got ended, and then her former husband died, she decided to marry again with a former Olympian in decathlon Bruce), they are handling their kids Kim, a very sexy star most known in Hollywood with her sex video with a former flame Ray J and now known to have a 72-day marriage with her former husband Kris Humphries, Kourtney as the eldest, Khloe (my favorite) and Rob (the only boy in the Kardashian family) from the Kardashian side and the sisters Kylie and Kendall from the Jenner side. They shared their own lives, from their lives with their father Robert Kardashian, Sr. and with the marriage and husband-and-wife lives of Kris and Bruce, the lives of the three Kardashian sisters and their own respective lives and so much more. I love it when they make fun of their mother Kris, in which in my honest opinion, is the best mother that they could have. For the whole Kardashian siblings, I really love Khloe because she is beautiful, honest and straight-to-the-point. I love it, especially last December 24 and 25 when E showed the marathon of this award-winning (I don't know) reality show. Keep up the good work, Kardashians!!!

2. PINOY BIG BROTHER UNLIMITED - This probably be the biggest season of the most successful reality show in the country today. From the previous editions of Pinoy Big Brother, I only liked, of course, the very first edition because nothing beats the beginning. Then on, whether it is celebrity edition or teen edition or this one, PBB is one of my most favorite shows in primetime. Now, the house is divided, once again, into two houses. One is for the Unli-Day housemates and the other is for the Unli-Night. I almost know all of the housemates in Unli-Night rather than in Unli-Day since I have a work when it was being shown. I liked Joya, Tin, Denise and Casey (unfortunately, she was evicted) for the girls and Biggel, Slater (eeee), Jerico (eeee), Carlo and Eting for the boys. I know only Luz (because she is from Muntinlupa), Naprey (because he is a teacher aside from being physically-challenged), Seichang (a Japanese) and Pamu (Alex Gonzaga-look-a-like) from the Unli-Day. Of course, there are some housemates that you don't like much. My example would be Paco from the Unli-Day because of his nagging attitude as
a boss and Kigoy from Unli-Night because of inexplicable behavior. Every moment Pinoy Big Brother is about to begin, I always feel excited. Maybe because the housemates living in Kuya's house reflect every Filipino. I could see myself to them, or not. That is why their tag line "ang teleserye ng totoo buhay" really works for them.

3. FASHION POLICE - Another love from E Entertainment Television and this show makes me go crazy over fashion and at the same time, poking to some celebrities wearing gowns and all. The quartet of Fashion Police led by the very youthful (though her real age is 78) Joan Rivers with her very spicy, funny and lambasting reactions and comments to the celebrities who wear gown and sashaying it to runway. Giuliana Rancic (my favorite E! host), George Kotsiopoulos and Kelly Osbourne are her witnesses on the runway. They say their own comments and opinion about a certain celebrity who does wear gowns, dresses and the way they project themselves. They have regular segments like Look of the Week, in which they present to us five ladies who dressed up either good or bad on the runway and the hosts will comment to it. Another one is B***h Stole My Dress and Guess Me From Behind, which I love. Sometimes they make fun of the celebrity, and they even make fun of themselves too, especially Joan Rivers. This show is really outrageous and out-of-this-world! If you are a celebrity, you've got to wear the best and not the worst, or else, these Fashion Police will catch you off-guard!

4. MY BINONDO GIRL - She is my favorite Kapamilya star! Kim Chiu really changed a lot, but I did not say that she undergone under the knife. She became really gorgeous and a princess to be exact. I loved her in Sana Maulit Muli with Gerald Anderson, My Girl again with Gerald Anderson (especially with Alex Gonzaga, when she is still part of ABS CBN), Tayong Dalawa (her most dynamic teleserye to date) and Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo (with Mama Kris Aquino). Now, she has her own drama series and everybody is so hooked every night, including myself. It was her first time to portray a role of a man, named Yuan and actually, she got the look of a very handsome man. But as the story goes, she needs to take off the role of his brother and portray her real as Jade. Another part of the story that everybody loves, again including myself is her love story. First it was Matteo Guidicelli but it did not push through. Then it was her best friend Onyx, played by Jolo Revilla. A normal example of a boy best friend who falls in love with his girl best friend. And yes, the other one likes but the other one does not like. But the catch of the story is when Andy, played by Xian Lim got caught of the charm of the princess. Yuan and him, at the first part of the story were friends but when Andy knew the secret of Jade, he kept it and afterwards became friends. They were also being issued as gay lovers since everybody from their office knew that Jade is Yuan. When that part of the story ended, undoubtedly they fell in love with each other and became lovers. Now, as the story passes through, they drifted apart but they needed to do something for the sake of the family's fortune. I love it! I love Kim Chiu and I love when my best buddy's mother said to her friends that she was needed to go home early just to watch My "Tondo" Girl! How funny!

5. KRIS TV - No it is not a new cable channel, neither a local channel but my Mama Kris Aquino's newest talk show in the morning block of ABS CBN, entitled simply, Kris TV. Only started last June, it captivated almost all of the mothers, young professionals who work at night and kids who have their classes in the afternoon (they are all lucky) by watching her. Yes, I agree with my idol Cristy Fermin that hands down, she is really our own Queen of Talk. She may not be good in acting but in hosting, taas ang kamay namin sa iyo! What I love her show is when she teaches us about life, how to become too simple to too edgy. Another thing that I like in her show is when she visits some of today's celebrities' homes. I loved her episodes with Toni Gonzaga, Kim Chiu, Dr. Vicki Belo and her own home. With those episodes featuring their homes, I am having my own little way to inspire myself that probably in the near future, I could have the home that they have because of hardworking and inspiration to go work. I can't watch it because I have work but every moment I spent my entire day watching the previous shows in front of the computer, I guaranteed myself that at the end of her episode, I've learned new things from her. She really changed the landscape of a morning talk show and at the same time, she went back to the hosting of her own, which is to inspire not to despise. I love you Mama Kris!

6. NASAAN KA ELISA? - This should be awarded as one of the best drama series in the country today. Apart from being a very thrilling and mysterious drama series, the actors portraying their own characters are the best. I love the characters of Agot Isidro, Mickey Ferriols, Joem Bascon, Eric Fructuoso, Christopher Roxas and Vina Morales. They are all good. But of course, who could forget Mariano Altamira, played by Albert Martinez and Elisa herself, Melissa Ricks. I don't know if that's a good idea of getting the role of Elisa for Melissa, since for the longest run of the drama series, we've seen only her like once or twice, or sometimes, even none at all. The end of the drama series is nearing so maybe I should stick to the story once and for all. Even though I wasn't able to follow it, still it is one of the best drama series of the Kapamilya network.

7. SHOWTIME - Showtime began on 2009 and I was actually thinking of it. What kind of show this would be, I know that it would be considered as a flop since it was only a talent show. Until one day, I've watched it and I could say, it is one of the best shows in the world (not only in the Philippines) and I truly mean it. In 2011, they added Billy Crawford and Karylle as part of the hosts, consists of my love Anne Curtis, the very handsome Vhong Navarro, the powerful Jugs and Teddy, the very intelligent Kuya Kim and of course, my idol Vice Ganda. I never had a chance to watch them because of their time (10:30 to 12:00) in which I have classes but I always make it a point to watch their weekend episode and I miss the laughs and cries and shocks of their show. Nowadays, since it is yearend, they are showing some of their memorable clippings. Some of it are truly funny to remember and most of it are really heartwarming. And being on their studio live makes me feel that I am at home, seeing them talking about everything and working as if nothing truly lives on their show tag, "this is your show, this is your time!"

8. WIL TIME BIG TIME - It was a reformatted show of the first show of Willie Revillame, Willing Willie. But because of an incident that shook the nation last March about the little boy forced to dance a la macho dancer which was hyped by so many netizens and even the government asked the station to suspend it or even put it to end. Of course, the millions of worshipers of Willie Revillame do not want their idol to go away of the boob tube, once again. The show has everything, think of his former Wowowee show but in a different channel. Now, he has the very subtle Shalani Soledad, famous for her "one-two-three, go!" and "red, white and blue, pili na kayo!" Now, Mariel left Happy Yippee Yehey just to add herself to the roster of Willie's co-host including Shalani, Babisaya (in which she is a good co-host but please take away her Bisaya accent), Imee (which is no longer part), Pak (a very good English speaker) and Sugar Mercado (a former Bulaga co-host known for her crying skills). My parents love the segments that they have which includes Family Apir, in which the contestants will hold a balloon on their lap and their co-members will sit on it and needs to pop it. It's a very stressful game which needs the fastest group to finish. And also the Willie of Fortune and so many more. Still the same Willie Revillame, one of the best hosts in Philippine television, and being known as a true-blue Kapamilya before now a Kapatid big starrer.

9. GANDANG GABI VICE - Yes, finally Vice Ganda has his/her own talk show. I love it. He/She becomes the best of his/her own craft in hosting. Even though some of his/her funny antics came from his/her stints in comedy bars, still it is really funny. He/She becomes himself/herself whenever he/she talks to his/her guests. I love the episodes of Vice's show, which includes Kim Chiu, Ethel Booba, Dr. Margie Holmes, Kaye Abad and Nikki Valdez, Anne Curtis, Noli de Castro, Judy Ann Santos, Pokwang, Gladys Reyes and Christopher Roxas, Angelica Panganiban and Pooh and Karen Davila. Actually, all of the episodes of Gandang Gabi Vice are really the best. Another treat that I like from his/her show is the Vice Advice Express, in which he/she answers all of the silly, if not the silliest, questions ever from his/her fans through Twitter and Facebook. That really gives me a very good laugh! I hope that Gandang Gabi Vice would not end till next year, knowing how ABS CBN treats their show not because of its value, but because of its ratings. Hurtful to hear but truthful in reality.

10. EAT BULAGA! - Three decades of fun and laughter, three decades of nonstop public service, and three decades of isang libo't isang tuwa. When I was still young, I was really into Eat Bulaga (I remember, it was still part of ABS CBN). Little Miss Philippines, May K Sa TV, Singing Soldiers, Lottong Bahay, Laban O Bawi, Taktak Mo O Tatakbo, Acting Challenges, Mr. Pogi, She's Got The Look, and now they have the national game in Philippine Television, Pinoy Henyo (in which, we did the same thing in our institution), and my ultimate favorite segment, Juan for All, All for Juan. They are helping those who are in need from the poorest part of Metro Manila and the nearby provinces, at the same time, they are making and poking fun of the winners. Thanks to the wittiness of all the hosts, especially Tito, Vic, Joey, Jose, Wally, Paolo, Allan, Julia, Pia, Iza, Ruby, Daiana, Pauleen, Keempee, Jimmy, Michael V. and their newest baby Isabelle, Eat Bulaga really is the part of every Filipino's noontime eating tradition.

Those are 2011 favorite shows of mine. Some of them might be the "forever favorite," but still it really brings out the entertainment in them, by entertaining me of course. Till 2012, folks! Thanks for the entertainment!

Year-Ender Brouhahas: The 25 Songs of 2011

Our year-ender specials will be done for this whole week, as the last week of this dynamic year for me, and probably for you as well. I will give you mostly of the best and some of the worst scenarios of the year in which we will soon remember or forget as the years come and pass by. We will start our Brouhaha Year-ender Specials with the songs that we loved in 2011!

MTV, MYX, Billboard, AT40 and all of the radio stations here and everywhere has nothing to do with this countdown. I'm just listing the 25 songs I always loved to listen to this beautiful year of 2011. Music has been part of my wonderful life, and my life would be blah without this. So here is the list, hope you enjoy it

25. KUNIN MO NA ANG LAHAT SA AKIN by Angeline Quinto

Since the inception of the primetime hit Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin, especially the latter part of the series, they were playing this as part of the love story between Maja, Coco and Andi. When the time, Angeline sang this in one of her concerts, she inserted the name of Coco Martin (he was her ultimate crush and actually, they will have their first-ever movie in 2012) as "kunin mo na ang lahat sa akin, huwag lang si Coco Martin!"

24. MOUTH by Anne Curtis

Yes, my super love Anne Curtis has her own album already. Nagulat kayo noh! I still don't have her album but I'm so excited for her concert next year (January 28, 2012). Now here is her own version of Mouth, popularized by Melissa Etheridge.

23. TAYO NA by KC Concepcion

We know that the love life of KC Concepcion has not been so good this year, maybe her song Tayo Na, makes you feel your love and your love life worthwhile. But this has nothing to do with the love itself, but the love of your former flame. Well, that's the way the lyrics says.

22. OMG by Karylle

When I first heard this after my dear friend told and showed me this, my heart pumped a happy blood. It is a feel good, pang-disco kind of music. And the lyrics, it really hits to somebody who has a skeleton in his closet. You know what I mean. Karylle sang this, and I don't know if this has something to do with her past, maybe not!

21. WHO'S THAT GIRL by Guy Sebastian featuring Eve

I heard this beautiful song when TV5 sashays their primetime princesses. Whenever this was sung or even played anywhere, I remember Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Ritz Azul, Eula Caballero, Danita Paner, Arci Munoz and Alex Gonzaga. The song is not made for TV5 but they used as the background music. Since then, I loved it and it makes me feel I am the one singing on a mic, hehehe!

20. WHO SAYS by Selena Gomez and The Scene

Another feel good song about being true to yourself, regardless of your personality, physical attributes and all. Justin Bieber's girlfriend and former Disney princess is a real good singer. Probably it was made for kids and teenagers who have discrimination problems anywhere but believe me, it is for everyone. This song actually moved me. Another thing, it was used in Selena Gomez's movie Monte Carlo. Coincidence, no! It was really used for the movie.

19. TEACH ME HOW TO DOUGIE by Cali Swag District

Probably one of the best dance song of 2011. Whenever this was being played anywhere (on the radio, in Baclaran and outside of our institution), I remember Vice Ganda and my dude Sir Yuan dancing this. And also, when this song was danced via ASAP Rocks, certainly it has a lot of praises and dougie styles. I don't know the meaning of the word dougie, but the shaving dance-like movements of the song caught the attention of each and every Filipino. This song also made into Tagalog version, entitled Turuan Mo Ako Niyan. No comment!

18. I'M ALREADY KING by Christian Bautista

This song was used in Christian Bautista's Indonesian movie A Special Symphony. I love the symphony, the rhythm of the song is really catchy and melodramatic. I don't know the real meaning of the song, since it has something to do with the film which concentrates more on teaching kids with special needs. "I'm already king in my own empire. I'm already here, I already reached my desire when I'm with you." I don't know if it has something to do with love, but the song is really gorgeous!

17. JUST A FEELING by Maroon 5

This was not being considered as a latest single of Maroon 5 but because of my friends who have an inclination to the band made this song in my list. The song is really catchy, it talks about falling out of love by the girl to the boy. I hate the meaning, especially for me who haven't had any premises with love. Anyways, what's important is the hot body of Adam Levine and the message of the song. "I can't believe that it's over!"

16. PORQUE by Maldita

I am really imbibed with this song, no doubt about it. Aside from its catchy rhythm and of course, the Chavacano chorus, it really has a sense of passion about love. After hearing this, it seems that the culture down south in Zamboanga has flourishing and delectable one. The singers are really good, especially the girl vocalist. It has the whole Chavacano version, the Chagalog version (which was always played on some radio stations) and the whole Tagalog version. I also saw its music video, and it's pretty good, too!

15. AKO NA LANG by Zia Quizon

My BFF's look-a-like is really a good singer/songwriter! The daughter of the Comedy King and the Divine Diva has the full potential to become the Next Big Thing in the local music scene. I remember this song when my kapatids are talking about a failed love story. My kapatid told my other kapatid to listen to this song because it has something to do with sana-ako-na-lang attitude. Bitter in a sense, nevertheless, the song is really great! Catchy it is and also, it is made by a Quizon!

14. BOW WOW CHIKA WOW by Mike Posner featuring Li'l Wayne

According to its uploaders, it was dated 2010 but I don't care. I only heard it this year and therefore, it is part of my 2011 hit list. I first heard this through Showtime whenever Vice Ganda made fun of her male counterparts as judge. When Jhong Hilario and him/herself tell to the whole world that they love each other (in a puchu-puchu way, of course!), DJ MOD uses this as their background music, sort of a theme song for the two. It is really cute to listen to!

13. LAST FRIDAY NIGHT by Katy Perry

This is a very good song on a Friday night, especially those workaholic guys and girls. But, from its lyrics, you better watch out after a Friday night party because you might not want to have a hangover. Everybody in this song shouts T.G.I.F. or Thank/s God It's Friday. I don't know for that reason but for me, my friends and I are waiting for Friday to have some gimmicks in and out of the metro. And maybe, this is the best song for us!

12. WE FOUND LOVE by Rihanna

Another dance treat from the great Rihanna! And yes, allow me to say it, every time I am hearing this song, it makes me bop to the dance floor. And it's so sexy too! Can you imagine myself dancing it, of course you can't! Anyways, what I love in this song is the message that you can find love anywhere.

11. IT GIRL by Jason Derulo

I so love this song, makes me feel like a girl (hehehe). This song was apparently used in one example of a marriage proposal by someone who was being featured in Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho. I am trying to look for it via YouTube but I can't. This song fit a girl like you, if you're walking on a runway or just on a plain street (think of Ayala Avenue or the streets of New York if you're sosyal) then you have this as a background, being sang to you by no less than Jason Derulo, ah, guaranteed, ang ganda mo!

10. PANGARAP LANG KITA by Parokya ni Edgar featuring Happee Sy

This was also in 2010 but I only heard it in 2011. It is like a Romeo and Juliet or Beauty and the Beast or mahirap-mayaman kind of love story through a song. I imagine this, the setting of the story is in Binondo (since the female singer is a Chinese) going to Divisoria. Chito is a typical kargador of a certain store in Juan Luna going to Tabora and Ilaya and Happee is a daughter of a wealthy Chinese businessman. They saw each other for the first time and it is indeed love at first sight. And the rest is in the song. "Mabuti pa sa lotto, may pag-asang manalo, di tulad sa iyo, imposible. 9. NOTHING by The Script

I love The Script from the time they introduced to us their hit song "The Man Who Can't Be Moved" but aside from that, numerous songs had gone underway after it. And yes, what do we expect it is really done in a good taste. But their latest adventure, Nothing for me, is their best song so far. If you'll take the lyrics, it is really sad, hurtful and degrading when you had fallen in love. Whenever I am hearing this, I remember my good friend who had a recent breakup with his girlfriend. I asked him to listen to this, and he said it touched him really hard. "Dialed her number and confessed to her, I'm still in love but all I heard is nothing!"

8. HEY DAYDREAMER by Somedaydream

This probably be one of the greatest songs of 2011 by a local artist! Yes, it gave me a bit of dancing, smiling and K-I-S-S-I-N-G! My best buddy Kenneth told me about this song in which he has a huge fanaticism with Somedaydream (real name Rez Toledo). He is a new kind of musician, using somewhat DJs are using in making music in a typical bar scene. And the song itself is really catchy to almost everyone, from kids to kids-at-heart! Everyone can be a daydreamer, even myself loves to do it. I'm just waiting for somebody to tell me "Hey! Daydreamer! You got to be prepared to leave her in her fantasies!" Hehehe!

7. SOMEONE LIKE YOU by Adele

This is Adele's most favorable song of hers. Certainly and indeed because of her powerful voice and the message of the song of bitterness, redemption and acceptance for the person you loved, well before. "Never mind I'll found someone like you. Cause there's nothing but the best for you, too... Sometimes it last in love, but sometimes it hurts instead!" Benta!

6. CALIFORNIA KING BED by Rihanna

I don't understand why Rihanna's songs are equally tempting and gorgeous to listen to. This time, she has California King Bed. At first, I don't understand why did she use a furniture that can be seen at home, and at the same time, she used a size of a bed (the biggest size of a bed). But if you'll tick on the lyrics, it is about love being left alone. It is really sad, heartwarming and tearful song but the rendition of these Barbadian hottie is indeed spectacular and powerful!

5. TINAMAAN AKO by Anne Curtis

The catchy lyrics which made me Anne Curtis loving her even more! "Tinamaan na ako, walanghiya ka Kupido, nasira ang schedule ko, putris na kabaliwang ito!" Yes, I think most of the girls and the pa-girls feel this for no reason at all. Anne Curtis really deserves her double platinum award for the sales of her neophyte album Anne-bisyosa. She is really an ambitious singer in which this is her actual dream even before. And her concert, another fulfilled dream of hers, is in the works (and I can't wait for that!). I gave an album as a present to my dear kapatid Julie Girl and she loved it. And she wanted her cutey daughter Summer to be like Anne Curtis! Well, what can I say, why not! I love you Anne Curtis until forever!

4. JET LAG by Simple Plan featuring Natasha Bedingfield

One of the saddest songs I've heard! My kapatid Lyrize feels this beyond her boyfriend for eight years, Noel and I'm sorry for having a long distance relationship. It is a rock-kind of music because of Simple Plan adding up with the touch of Natasha Bedingfield's power-belting voice. I imagine this, the girlfriend works as a flight attendant going anywhere in the world and the boyfriend  is just staying in his home, going to his work, going to his friend and waiting for his girlfriend, so sad but a great music.

3. LOVE LOVE LOVE by Hope featuring Jason Mraz

No, it is not my Mama Kris's famous expression, it is a beautiful song rendered by Hope. I only heard this in Summer of 2011 and it really fits the warmth of the sun and the enjoyable and cozy environment of a beach while listening to this song. I prefer the version of Hope only in this song, but I also like it with Jason Mraz as her partner. Why everybody feels so special whenever they feel this L word, and myself. No comment! I indeed believe in its lyrics, "You're love's a permanent distraction, a perfect interaction, a feeling so extreme!" Eeeee... Kakakilig!

2. YOU MAKE ME FEEL by Cobra Starship featuring Sabi

So stylish to listen and to dance with this song. Cobra Starship has been known as the voice behind Good Girls Gone Bad with Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester. This is another dance hit that can be used if you're having a party night out with friends and neighbors. I love the music, I love everything in this song! It makes me feel like la la la la la... La la la la la... La la la la la... La la la la la...

And the number one song for 2011, that's according to my taste is...

1. BY CHANCE (YOU AND I) by JRA

There's no doubt about it, I am an official Jamich fan because I fell in love in their love story and the way the show their love to each other. And equipped with this very romantic song from a Fil-Am aspiring singer JRA, indeed their love team will go a long, long way! I love the way they dance it, it feels comfortable, relaxed and of course in love! I had loved one of its lyrics, "Hi! Girl you just caught my eye, though I should give it a try, and get your name and your number, go grab some lunch and eat some cucumber!" Hahaha, it means that the boy whose wanting to get noticed by a girl was on a wrong track asking the girl to get lunch and eat some cucumber. A rare kind of start, right? Whatever it is, if you're in love whether a bad start or what, just continue it and flourish it!

Wow! 2011 is a great year for music! I hope you liked my own list of songs. I can't wait for 2012, new discoveries in music, new albums to be bought and downloaded and new artists to watch for, even waiting to have their concert here in the Philippines!

The 10 Books That I've Read and Have To Read Soon

I consider myself as a bookworm, meaning I love to read books; thanks to these people who made me realize that being a bookish person can lead you to everlasting knowledge and wisdom, all rolled into one. Boy Abunda is very proud to say that he reads book and he tells to everyone that we should read books. Kris Aquino can finish a novel only in an overnight stay. Ma'am Neriz Gabelo gave me so much ideas about the literature world from classics to Nobel Prize Winners for Literature. And Oprah Winfrey, in which she has her own book club raises the paperbacks and the hard bounds that everyone must have!

And now, I'll be showing to you the books that I already read and soon to be read, thanks to all of the people who gave it as a gift and I also thank myself for forcing to purchase it!

1. STAINLESS LONGGANISA by Bob Ong - Unarguably, Bob Ong is the best fiction author and fiction and non-fiction in contemporary Filipino literature. Thanks to my good friend Sir Yuan, he incidentally forced me to know more about this imaginary author. Some says that Bob Ong is a real person but it made me truly realized that Bob Ong came from a website called bobongpinoy.com. I don't know if this website still works but some of the writings that Bob Ong created loosely based from his website. This was actually my second try to read a Bob Ong creation, the first one was ABNKKBSNPLAKO; most entirely about being a student. I only finished it in one seating, thanks for the very good words Bob Ong used and that stuck me really hard. I bought Stainless Longganisa this year because of a quick read inside Powerbooks in ATC. And yes, it made me love the writings on how to become a decent, powerful and sometimes wacky writer, knowing that this profession is a trial and error one. He gave us his own story on how did he become a great writer starting from a rough-edged beginning down to the becoming of a feel-good and inspirational-worded genius. One thing I've learned from him: you don't need to have a Creative Writing bachelor's, master's or doctor's degree just to become a very proficient writer. All you have to do is to study about your own imagination. Just looking at him and yes, it is!

2. THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA by Lauren Weisberger - This was made into a movie in 2006 and it is about one of my greatest love, fashion. It starred Meryl Streep as the very workaholic, devilish, monotonous editor-in-chief of Runway Magazine, Miranda Priestly and Anne Hathaway as a Journalism-graduate, Northwestern University official paper editor-in-chief and now editorial assistant to Miranda, Andrea Sachs. Yes, Andrea does everything what her boss wants her to do. The project of her two daughters, going to go-sees of the models, purchasing everything from every stores in New York and going with her at France and screaming at her for not doing what she wants to do. Gladly, I first watched the film version of it, so I have an idea about the whole story. But when I turned on the book, I only knew that the film was only a "based-on-the-novel-by-Lauren-Weisberger" type. Same names but a whole different atmosphere. I remember the gay named Nigel and he screams his/her lungs out! How did I know it, by the all-capitalized letters the author used. She also has a best friend here, named Lilli and she was a hard alcoholic drinker. I liked it, not because it has a sense of fashion, sense of humor and sense of horror because of having that kind of boss but it tells us how to handle such issues between the employer and the employee. Are you going to fight back if ever your boss screamed his/her everything to you by not doing what he/she wants you to do? Or are you just going to make it more productive next time and make your boss feel speechless and somehow happy and proud of you? Lauren Weisberger was a real genius when it comes to women empowerment. Most of her novels are about having a good time, luxury and fashion, and about New York City! Was Miuccia Prada ever offended that most of her works were worn by a devil?

3. BY THE RIVER PIEDRA I SAT DOWN AND WEPT by Paulo Coelho - Thanks to my student Pia Tolon, she gave me this as her present to me last Christmas 2010. This was highly recommended by my best buddy Kenneth because he used this as his book for our novel analysis in our Intensive English class way back in our second year college heydays. Paulo Coelho is a well-loved Brazilian author, mostly noted about his love stories, mysteries and personal novels. They say that The Alchemist was his ultimate book to read on but for me, I think it is By The River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept. It is a story of waiting in vain in love. Pilar has a childhood sweetheart in which it was not named by the author. The childhood sweetheart fulfilled his dream to become a seminarian, a follower of God. She went to Zaragoza, Spain for her vacation where she met the guy. Pilar is asking him about their status but the guy gave him wonderful words in which she doesn't want to hear from him. They are like playing hide and seek, but about their own feelings to each other. You may say that Pilar is a martyr one but you can't blame her. She is wholeheartedly in love with the seminarian. It seems that she is really waiting for nothing, waiting for someone that will never come to her life. In the end, they still love each other but in a different perspective in which both of them do understand. What's more beautiful in this book are the quotable lines, such as "Love is a trap. When it appears, we see only its light, not its shadows," "You think about the person you love for two minutes and forget them for three hours. Now, you think about him for three hours and forget him for two minutes." But for me, my favorite part of the story is when they were at Lourdes, France to celebrate the feast of the Immaculate Conception. Pilar was in a prayer group asking for a blessing to the Blessed Mother. She made a prayer, not about herself but about the person that he loves. "May the Immaculate Conception teach me to love as she loves... May that love grow in me and in the man to whom it is dedicated!" It is really sad to love someone whom will never fall in love with you and Paulo Coelho made it more complicated.

4. LIKE WATER FOR CHOCOLATE by Laura Esquivel - When our Anglo-American Literature professor Ma'am Neriz Gabelo told us about this in one of our sessions, we are truly in awe of the story. Aside from my another favorite topic in a certain novel, which is food, it is also a love story, in a sensual aspect and family story, too. The last time I read this book was when I was in college so I forgot some of the highlights of the story, but it is really good to read on. Every chapter is like a recipe for the month. It gives the ingredients, the procedure, the number of servings and the story behind the cooking, presentation and munching on of the food. Laura Esquivel is such a genius writer. She made it like a cookbook and at the same time, love story and about family. If I still have time to purchase this, I would love to read it again and again because it is mystical, lovable and delectable novel, especially for those food aficionados. Yes, I am one that's why I like to have this in my book shelf.

5. 1984 by George Orwell - "Big Brother is watching you!" That's the promise of this equally gorgeous novel made by Eric Blair also known to all of us as George Orwell. He made 1984 something horrific and stressful to the people. He made Great Britain, Oceania. He tumbled down the monarchs and made Big Brother the "eye" of the whole country. He created Newspeak, which is gallantly and interestingly intriguing to study. Even having sex needs to be asked to the Ministry of Love. Each house have a telescreen so they monitor whatever happens in their respective nests. At the countryside, there were no telescreens but there are microphones everywhere. The way I presently read it, I don't know the real reaction of the main character Winston Smith about the condition of their country under an autocratic rule. It seems that he doesn't like and needs to have a revolt, or he likes it because it gives him the benefits or it just a so-so feeling that he lets the day pass by under this rule. Really interesting with this story that the international favorite reality show Big Brother was based upon this. Same concept as with the novel itself, the house has CCTV cameras, microphones and Big Brother is watching their every inch of movements. The whole plot of the novel is indeed scary in a sense of having that kind of government. You'll be really scared with the punishment (they were using the term "vanished" instead of "dead") if you'd done something bad against a certain "comrade." George Orwell made this since he was a former soldier of the Royal Army. He is a real genius, a real man perhaps! He knows the knick-knacks of the army, being part of the government and his own interpretation of the Oceania land. And also, the enemies of the state, which are Eurasia and Eastasia. I'm not yet done with the novel but I can't wait for the next episodes and whereabouts of the story.

6. NORWEGIAN WOOD by Haruki Murakami - One of my favorite books of my favorite Japanese author Haruki Murakami is this. It is not based from the The Beatles' song Norwegian Wood but it was actually mentioned at the first part of the story. The main character of the story is Toru, a Literature college student from a reputable university in Tokyo. He has a best friend in which he fell in love with Naoko, his love of his life. But Naoko has something in her mind that made me think about her. Is she schizophrenic? Naoko became the girlfriend of Toru's best friend. He was in so much in pain but after his best friend committed suicide (it's Japan and all knows about their idea of committing suicide), Naoko fell in Toru's shoulder to cry on. Toru had set on his mind that he really loves Naoko but one day, he just delighted knowing that Naoko entered herself into a rehabilitation center just outside of the capital city. He went there to visit her and he knew her friend, my favorite character in the story named Reiko. Her life was a full of mess, during her old, glory days but after she entered herself in the center, everything had changed! Another character in the story is Midori, Toru's classmate and lackadaisical friend. They're not an item but Midori becomes angry whenever Toru is not present at her side. She even got angry at him by not telling to her that he will visit Naoko at the center. At the latter part of the story, Naoko committed suicide for no reason. Unfortunately, Toru and Naoko never became lovers but thanks to Reiko, and the power of writing letters, they professed themselves. Haruki Murakami's ingenuity in writing made myself a true blue follower of his works. His love stories are really in the circle of the literature, not just a fancy pocketbook-like romance. I need to read my two other favorite books of him, Sputnik Sweetheart and South of the Border, West of the Sun. Speechlessly, I love Haruki Murakami!

7. SAM'S LETTERS TO JENNIFER by James Patterson - James Patterson is one of my Mama Kris's favorite authors. He is known for his mystery novels, some of them are horror, terrifying, nerve-wracking and even make you feel goosebumps. He created characters like his infamous Alex Cross and The Women's Murder Club. I have no idea with those, but I am planning to collect all of the Alex Cross series, starting from 1st to Die, to his latest, the 10th Anniversary. But aside from his known mystery novels, James Patterson also writes romantic novels such as this one that I am wanting to buy and to read because I know it has a promise of a truly good love story. Sam's Letters to Jennifer might be an example of an epistolary novel, dealing with letters is the meaning of it. I have no idea with it, but based from the praises of his novel, it will really make you into buckets and buckets of tears. I can't wait to purchase this and to read this and I know in the end, it is really a good read!

8. ALEPH by Paulo Coelho - According to this book, this is Paulo Coelho's most personal novel yet. Inspired (probably) with some of the finest personal novels of Elizabeth Gilbert in her Eat, Pray, Love, Haruki Murakami's When I Talk About What I Talk About Running and Julie Powell's Julie and Julia, Paulo Coelho really lived to his fullest. Thanks to my co-teacher, she gave me this as my wish and as her gift to me. I never opened it and I don't want to read it (I need to finish the book I am reading right now before this) so that my mind is replenished and ready again to accept all of the ideas from this brilliant genius. According to the synopsis, Paulo traveled from Asia to Europe just to seek for some enlightenment (I presume) and needing to find himself from what have lost. I have been a huge fan of Paulo Coelho after reading another masterpiece (go to number 3) and from the quotes that he uttered most, and I know that I've been hooked by him. This time, it is going to be different because another dimension of being a Paulo Coelho will be known by reading this novel. No wonder he became one of the best selling author in the world. Hopefully I could find the worth of having this kind of life after reading this gorgeous book of Paulo Coelho.

9. JULIE AND JULIA by Julie Powell - Same with The Devil Wears Prada, I watched the film first before reading the book. Gladly, I wasn't disappointed, it is absolutely beautiful! No wonder if I could read the whole book. I can't say if this is an example of a fiction or a non-fiction, same thing with Elizabeth Gilbert's Eat, Pray, Love, Paulo Coelho's Aleph and Haruki Murakami's When I Talk About What I Talk About Running. But based from its cover, maybe it is her own account of life. For one whole year, 365 days and 524 recipes of her idol Julia Child, she created a blog that depicts her daily life as a true blue fan of the queen of kitchen. She doesn't even care if others say that she does stupid things on telling everything about her cooking, her writing skills and her idol Julia but just for her, she wants to make it as a hobby. Indeed, she finished her plan with ease. Right now, as what her account says, she has her second book entitled Cleaving: A Story of Marriage, Meat and Obsession, which has somehow related to her first book. I am excited to purchase this too and read all about cooking. Think of my other favorite book about cooking (Like Water for Chocolate); this book probably will be enticing and sumptuously delighted to read, soon.

10. SI AMAPOLA SA 65 NA KABANATA by Ricky Lee - I was so sad when I wasn't able to attend his grandest book launch at SM City North EDSA. My former college professor and idol Ma'am Neriz Gabelo together with her friend, my another idol Michael Montalban and my barkada Mark Pabilando, and also my colleague and friend Sir Yuan went to see and watch it. Ensemble and star-studded casts were part of the book launch including Ai-Ai delas Alas, Eugene Domingo, Judy Ann Santos, Ryan Agoncillo, Cherry Pie Picache and so much more graced the event. Tsk! If only I could go back time. Ricky Lee is known as one of the most talented, critically-and-commercially-acclaimed and most-awarded writers in the land. He was the only one who wrote Himala, Salome, Anak, Muro-Ami, and some of the drama series at ABS CBN. He also ventured and launched his very first novel entitled Para Kay B (O Kung Paano Dinevastate ng Pag-ibig ang 4 out of 5 Sa Atin) in which most of my colleagues are into it. Yes, it deals with love life, no wonder why some of Ricky Lee's fans are so hooked with the story. I never had a chance to read it, nor buying it but I want to read this second novel of his. According to its synopsis, it was really a feel-good and funny or horrific kind of novel because Amapola, here is a manananggal who just want to be in love with a straight guy. Amapola is a gay character and as a gay impersonator in a comedy bar in Tomas Morato in Quezon City. Other characters also shown that made me feel interested more in this novel (especially the policeman who is a Noranian). I don't want to be a "know-it-all" guy but from the blogs and forums that I've read, this second novel of Ricky Lee is a great hit. Again, I can't wait to purchase this, read the first few chapters down to last and while doing that, I am giving a hearty laugh, or expansive opinion or a serious mode.

You and Me Sitting On A Tree And Other Brouhahas

Exactly 14 days before the wonderful time of the year comes, Christmas and everybody, especially myself, is really excited. Parties, gifts, FOOD, reunions and so much more are in array to happen. Anyways, it is not about Christmas that is the topic of my few brouhahas that I have right now, and I think let's start!

JAMICH - I knew them only this week, just last Sunday via the hit show Gandang Gabi Vice. They are real life couples whom they direct, produce and upload videos through YouTube. Most of their videos are being done all by themselves; one of them will be the cameraman, and the other one too. And also, their videos are really hippy and romantic, especially their hit video By Chance. They are Jamvhille Sebastian (nice name huh, reminds me of Farmville, hehehe!) and Paolinne Michelle Liggayu, thus being called themselves as Jamich. They were on their third year, still young, but their lives are always together, which was envied and inspired by so many, including myself. Imagine, they show their love to each other by means of cinematography and photo-finished! They even have their own latest dance craze with the song By Chance (same as being used in their video) by a Fil-Am singer JR Aquino. How I wish I could meet them personally for just telling them how much they are so lovely as a couple. Here's your chance to witness "By Chance!"

MY CRUSH RHIAN RAMOS - I first saw her during the series of McDonald's commercials of her with somebody whom I don't know the name. If you still remember the McJelly Trio sundaes, the "it" girl of that commercial was Rhian Ramos (Rhian Denise Ramos Howell in real life). Then GMA got her to become Richard Gutierrez's leading man from his first hit program Captain Barbell (admittedly, the first one was a hit and the second one was a not-so). Afterwards, she had done so many drama series in the Kapuso network such as Lupin, LaLola, Zorro, Stairway to Heaven, Ilumina and again in Captain Barbell 2. She also did films like The Promise (I like her portrayal here), Ouija (same here), and My Valentine Girls (with Richard Gutierrez). She is beautiful, really indeed! But now, she is facing her greatest and worst trial ever in her life, I presume. With the onset of her demeaning break-up with my favorite DJ, Mo Twister, a very alarming controversy had come out and made her name on the downside. I am really, really sad with what happened to her. It made me change to idolize Mo Twister, being known to be very emotional when it comes to her romances (I mean love life) to my crush. If I could have a chance to be with her, I would never, ever do or even put in her into a low light (even lowest if may say) because what's the point of loving her if you'll put her on distress, right? I pity for Rhian Ramos, very very sad. For Mo Twister, I am still your number one fan, but not with any personal relationships. I had found the way to annoy you. By the way, I don't want to share with you the video of a crybaby Mo Twister or an anguished Rhian Ramos, but her very famous McDonald's commercial.

DEACTIVATING TWITTER - The last moment I spent my entire day looking for nonsense tweets in this social networking site is about a month ago. I didn't even notice that I've not been using it for so long, maybe because of the busy schedule, or maybe because I am so much into Facebook, since the latter makes me feel complete rather than Twitter. I started it last year, April to be exact, and nothing was really special with it. You'll tweet, then its nothing, its useless, its nonsense. I remember when the morning show of Mo Twister entitled Good Times talked about the fight (well, not seriously) between the two mightiest social networking sites in our planet right now. For others, Facebook is the best because it has everything, from pages to pictures to applications to friends and my most favorite, the "Likes." For some, Twitter is the most favorite because it is accurate and useful especially to some news aficionados. Still, I can't take Twitter since its whole appearance is just words, only words. I don't find it too presentable. Unlike with Facebook, though it only uses white background, still it has everything, and when I say everything, it has everything! So last night, I decided to deactivate it. I still have 30 days to think it over if I want to open it or not, but I decided not to open it anymore. Come to think of it, why would you still consider to continue utilizing something if you're no longer happy, right? Here's a video about the "between" episodes of Facebook and Twitter (I was thinking of using the Google Plus, which Mark Zuckerberg uses.)

METRO MANILA FILM FESTIVAL ENTRIES - Because it's Christmastime, the whole nation once again will be brighten when most of the well-known actors and actresses will traverse from SM Mall of Asia to Roxas Boulevard and back and to the moviehouses as most of them will be at the 37th Metro Manila Film Festival. Only seven entries are luckily part of the much-awaited film festival. These are My Househusband with Ryan Agoncillo, Judy Ann Santos and Eugene Domingo, Yesterday Today and Tomorrow with Maricel Soriano, Gabby Concepcion, Jericho Rosales, Dennis Trillo, Lovi Poe, Carla Abellana, Solenn Heusaff, Paulo Avelino, Agot Isidro and Ronaldo Valdez, Enteng ng Ina Mo with Vic Sotto and Ai Ai delas Alas, Manila Kingpin with Jeorge Estregan (now Governor ER Ejercito of Laguna) and Carla Abellana, Ang Panday 2 with Ramon "Bong" Revilla, Jr., Shake Rattle and Roll 13 with Eugene Domingo, Edgar Allan Guzman, Maricar Reyes, Zanjoe Marudo, Kathryn Bernardo and Louise delos Reyes and of course, my Mama Kris's Segunda Mano with Dingdong Dantes, Angelica Panganiban and Helen Gamboa. Now, what would I start first? With my Mama, probably we'll watch Enteng ng Ina Mo. With my dear friends, of course it is got to be Segunda Mano. With my "imaginary friend," I'll watch Manila Kingpin. With myself, it is got to be Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. Now, what trailer should I put here? I think, it is better not to put any of them to avoid being bias. Just give out your money, relax and see those movies.
