When It Looks Like I Have Failed

This is a very beautiful prayer which is part of Straight From The Heart, a prayer book written by Fr. Mario Jose C. Ladra published by St. Pauls. A prayer in times of troubles and failures but looking at it differently.

When It Looks Like I Have Failed

Lord, are you trying to tell me something?
For--

Failure doesn't mean I'm a failure.
It does mean I haven't yet succeeded.

Failure doesn't mean I have accomplished nothing.
It does mean I have learned something.

Failure doesn't mean I have been a fool.
It does mean I had enough faith to experiment.

Failure doesn't mean I've been disgraced.
It does mean I dared to try.

Failure doesn't mean I don't have it.
It does mean I have to do something in a different way.

Failure doesn't mean I am inferior.
It does mean I am not perfect.

Failure doesn't mean I've wasted my life.
It does mean I have an excuse to start over again.

Failure doesn't mean I should give up.
It does mean I must try harder.

Failure doesn't mean I'll never make it.
It does mean I need more patience.

Failure doesn't mean you have abandoned me.
It does mean you must have a better idea!

Amen.

These Are The 116 Things We Want To See For The Philippines

One question: Are you sick and tired of being a Filipino?

My question has nothing of myself hating being a Filipino. It was a rhetorical question that needs no answers. Well, with different sorts of news being heard on the radio, watched on the television, browsed on the Internet, and read on newspapers everything about corruption, murder, uncanny behaviors, misguidance, and everything not so nice to our country, aren't you proud to become a Filipino? Aren't you wishing for a better Philippines? Are we wanting to move forward?

On the occasion of our 116th Independence Day, let's try to find out 116 things we want to see to our beloved country. There's no harm in wishing for as long as we're going to do what's best for our country, the Philippines. Again, all of these 116 are the thing we wish for our beloved land, the Philippines!

Happy 116th Independence Day!!!

And TOODLES PILIPINAS!!!

I Keep Coming Back to Brouhahas

I told myself that every Tuesday will be a Blogging Tuesday event. I don't know but I always look at Tuesdays as nothing, no special significance and blah for the entire week. Sundays are for God and family (and also The Buzz and Gandang Gabi Vice, hehe!), Mondays are for the first working day and the first for everything (I guess?), Wednesdays are for my Perpetual Help novenas, Thursdays are for my St. Jude Thaddeus novenas and also throwbacks (with hashtag!), Fridays are for partying and Saturdays are for my studies and also partying! Since then, I haven't seen anything so meaningful with Tuesdays. Now, I decided that the third day of the week will be the only day I can do blogging about stuffs.

From my last post, I am back with lots of stuff intricately thought and balanced with different perspective. Haha! In short, I am back with writing everyday's somethings. Now here are my brouhahas:

courtesy of Poetry Place
THERE ARE LOTS OF WEDDINGS - I bought the June edition of YES! Magazine and it talked about different celebrity weddings from Jericho Rosales and Kim Jones to Karylle and Yael Yuzon (now I know why since June is known for weddings and June brides). Last January, Drew Arellano and Iya Villania had their very cute wedding underground. Few weeks ago, my dude Yuan and kaps Lyrize tied the knot in a very peaceful and blessed ceremony. Last year, my good friends and siblings Ronald and Charm and Joel and Theresa equally exchanged "I do's!" I also have my former classmates, schoolmates, colleagues, neighbors and so much more who have been at the altar and sealed their wedding with a kiss. Some say that wedding is only a one-day event so why need to satisfy so many things like church, wedding gown, suits, reception, food, and so much more. For others, wedding is only for formality. Some say that the wedding is entirely the most important day for a woman to be called as the bride. That's why the groom should be the one who creates a magical day for her soon-to-be-bride. And everything shall be enticed by the taste of the bride.

They define wedding as the front door of marriage. It happens only one day but the entire journey of a married life begins the day after. Nervous as it may sound but it is a choice for the two lovers who wanted to be with each other's arms for the rest of their lives.

I have been part of an entourage. I have been a secondary sponsor from my two sisters' weddings and a recent one with Yuan and Lyrize's. I also became one of the groomsmen with Joel and Theresa's wedding. Now I am thinking when will be that perfect time? For me? The big question is, who will be the...? For the newlyweds, congratulations and best wishes!

"Mr. FU! Ba't ang pogi-pogi mo???" - courtesy of 106.7 Energy FM
ANG TAGABULABOG NG BUONG UNIVERSE - Jeffrey Espiritu started as a news reporter of RPN-9 (I am not sure if that station still exist?). He also had a show every Sundays (I forgot the title!) which features different things happening in the metro. He is a chinito guy with good looks and fit body but then I have noticed that there's something going on in him (well, it takes one to know one!). Then, he was called as Mr. FU being known for his follow-up reports (as what he did with RPN-9 as a news reporter). From television, he jumped into radio with a new work as radio disc jockey. He started with Energy FM when it was still under 91.5 frequency. While I was working back then at IVOLINE, the bus I rode back home tuned to the station and it was Mr. FU's show. I remember one male texter saying something about hooking up with Mr. FU but he replied with reluctancy. Maybe that male texter knew that Mr. FU was a woman trapped in a man's body. From Energy FM, he went to 103.5 WOW FM making as their Star DJ. It was also during his move that he was recognized as "the highest paid DJ in the country." After three years with WOW FM, he decided to return to his first home, Energy FM but in a different frequency with 106.7. And truly, I became one of his true-blooded fan! How I became his fan, again?

It was one morning, I was driving and I kept on scrolling what FM station could I listen to. Then I heard Mr. FU doing one of his segment in his show Ang Tagabulabog ng Buong Universe called Showbiz FU where he reads three different showbiz news and then he will make fun of it. Then on, I added him as one of my favorite radio programs which includes The Morning Rush, Tambalan and Papa Jack's True Love Conversations. He has his assistant named Emily (I guess he chose the name after Emily Blunt's character in The Devil Wears Prada, which happens to be Miranda Priestly's first assistant). He always asks Emily different names of celebrities, politicians, news reporters then and now and so much more, and if she doesn't know them, he tells "gaga ka, patanga-tanga ka!" He does not mean it really but it is so funny. He also loves to play names of different showbiz personalities. In his entire show, my favorite segment is Showbiz FU (which has two parts) and when he reads different messages from his die-hard fans and listeners and afterwards, he will make some funny comments then the phrase, "dahil diyan, close na tayo!" in a very provocative voice, and "mahal na kita, you're the one!" Now my morning will be totally incomplete if I wasn't able to listen to him because he really made my universe "nabulabog!"

RAILFANNING - This may consider me as a weird one but I am such a huge fan of trains. I have been trying LRT-1, MRT-2 and MRT-3 for so many times. I even tried the Philippine National Railways from Alabang all the way to Tutuban in Manila. But I am so much fan of the different high-speed railway system in other countries, most especially in United Kingdom, United States, China, Japan and France. It brings so much joy and music to my ears when I watch videos of traversing high-speed trains on tracks. I have been a huge fan of Eurostar, a high-speed train service from London to Paris and Brussels with a underground passage via the Euro Tunnel which swims under the English Channel. United States has their Acela Express which runs the Northeast Corridor line from Boston to Washington, D.C. Germany has Inner City Express or ICE, Spain has AVE, Netherlands has Thalys, China has the CRH, Japan has the Shinkansen or the Bullet Train, but what I really admire so much is France's TGV. TGV means Train a Grande Vitesse (literally High Speed Train in English) is the high-speed railway system of the French Republic known for their service and no fatalities in accidents for the past 40 years. What made me a huge fan of the trains is not really about the trains but the luscious countryside of France being halved by the agility of TGV. Its technology and services had been adopted by other high-speed train systems in the world like AVE of Spain, KTX of South Korea, British Rail Crass of the United Kingdom and Acela Express of the United States.

I just only wish that we have our own high-speed trains. Imagining going up north to Ilocos or going south to Bicol by riding very fast, very comfortable high-speed trains. Since 1892, we already had our PNR, almost 70 years before the government of France created the SNCF (French National Railway Company). I wish our government would soon pursue to have a high-speed train system that will surely benefit the Filipino people and foreign adventurers. Our interisland train system have died because of poor management and continuing declination of the services. It even brought to permanent closure when typhoons damaged the rail tracks and communication facilities of PNR especially in Quezon and Bicol. No wonder our own TGV will match the quality and technology of the real TGV of France and other high-speed rail systems of the world.

THE VOICE OF THE WORLD - Last May 24, The Voice Kids Philippines began its broadcast with the most talented kids singing their hearts out to the coaches. Last year, it became one of the most watched shows in ABS-CBN making Mitoy Yonting of Team Lea as the very first winner. I was watching some of the blind auditions of The Voice Philippines and there were only less chances of four-chair-turns. Unlike with the other franchises of The Voice from USA, UK, Italy and China, most of the blind auditionees were being wanted by all of the four coaches from their seats. Does it really mean that singers from other countries are way better than ours?

With all of the different The Voice franchises in the world, there are only two blind auditions which I really love to watch repeatedly. One blind audition was from The Voice Italy (Season 2) when a Catholic nun, named Sister Cristina rocked the stage and wowed the audience with her amazing performance of Alicia Key's No One. It made four-chair turns because of her exuberant talent. Judges from The Voice Italy, Raffaella Carra, Noemi, Piero Pelu and J-Ax were so enthused with the charisma of the Catholic nun. Finally, Suor Cristina chose J-Ax as her coach since he was the first one who pushed to button. As of this writing, she is still part of the competition with J-Ax as her coach.

Another blind audition that I fell in love with is from The Voice of China. This was during the show's first season in 2012 when a certain Wang Naien of Shanghai tried the blind auditions. He chose "Listen" by Beyonce as his piece. At first, you would not believe that a male singer will sing a very high Beyonce masterpiece but he just made it possible. The very first judge who pushed the button was Liu Huan, followed by the other three, Harlem Yu, Na Ying and Yang Kun. After having all of the judges, he chose Liu as his coach. But sadly, he was eliminated after the second round of the Battles division.

Thanks to the creative idea of John de Mol, The Voice is one of the well-loved, most anticipated reality singing competition in the world. It has a different approach in looking for talents in singing and paved the way to so many aspirants that by their voice, they can make a difference!

Now my Blogging Tuesday is done! This day will have its own significance to my life and I will start right now!

Thank you for reading!

What Had Stopped Me From Writing?

This is the question I still do not know the answer. And if I will answer, I guess I cannot fit it into writing because of so many reasons. Before the answers, let me go back to a certain point in time when my writing skills were questioned.

I am officially unemployed nowadays because I wanted to concentrate with my studies and at the same time, to take some rest in teaching (don't worry, I'll be returning next school year!). But the most intriguing reason why I left the academe is because I wanted to try in writing, editing and everything about publishing. I know, everybody knows (with flying colors, hahaha) that I have talent in writing so I can use it, I can even make money out of it. I tried to so many publishing companies, from books to magazines and even technical writing and online writing tutor but they kept me waiting.

I tried applying in one of the leading magazine publishing companies in the country. I really wanted to be part of their lifestyle site which they write about anything and everything in Metro Manila. From food, movies, celebrities, politicians, and so much more, this site can make fun of them, no pun intended. I sent my resume and I really bragged my blogsite which happened to have the same writings as they do. I still believe that I can be trained if I guess my writings were not as strong and as readable as they do. They received it but until now, I haven't heard of anything from them. Is it because I am not really a writer but an educator? Teachers can write beautifully and with full of ideas, heart and soul.

I taught Technical Writing in high school. This is difficult because it has more technicalities unlike with creative writing and even journalism. Different jargon and terminologies have been given to the students but of course I studied them. These things gave me an idea on how to make my own papers due for my studies. I just don't know if my students are also interested. I let them create their own thesis and put them into an oral defense as part of their exams. Some did well, others not so. I understand that this was their first time doing a research work. Good thing, I haven't heard anything from my superiors and my colleagues about my project. Time was actually the main thing why some of them did not do well. And my fault, I inserted their Technical Writing project to the numerous projects and requirements students need to do for the year end.

I read from Philippine Panorama only today about the slowly decline of college students getting humanities or liberal arts as their course. Specifically, they are not into the world of literature, visual arts and other forms. I am studying literature and up to heavens, I love it. Most of the incoming college students are into hotel and restaurant management, maritime studies, engineering, sciences and others which will give them the benefits. Unlike if you write and if your ideas are great, you will come a long way. But I only talked to one of the most respected professors in one of the leading universities in the Philippines that writing career in our country has served by a so-called "mafia." I did not dwell too much in it but I guess it is true. Why cannot we not follow the footsteps of other countries in which they do care about the writers, and they still have a snap with literature and the whole liberal arts (no, I'm not afraid because I know I can have a career with humanities!).

On the other hand, I became very busy. I was very busy finishing the grades of my students. I was very busy finishing two papers for my studies. And I don't have any mood for writing. Prior to this, I haven't finished two posts because of my mood swings. It includes laziness, sadness, and the "I-don't-care-what's-going-on-outside" syndrome. Because it was my time to have a rewarding vacation, same goes with my writing. Don't worry because I'm going to release it soon, if I have mood (of course, yes!)

I guess another reason was my attitude. These past few months, I've been exercising attitude towards my parents, my friends, my co-workers and even myself. There were turbulent occasions with myself and the other people so close to my life and thankfully, we made pact with each other. Because of that, I did not write. Instead of putting it into writing, I just waiting something to change in the timeline of Facebook and Twitter and watch so many usual and unusual videos via YouTube.

And then I went back to applying. This time as an online writing tutor in a company based in Alabang. In it, students from different countries will be sending their homework and a draft of their work. As a tutor, you are not going to edit their work but to tutor them what should be and should not be done in their work. It is like the students look up to their tutor as perfect example of writers. I did the simulation and it was really hard. I was not able to do necessary exercises because I relied with the sample essays they had sent me. And I also had problems with my grammar. I have problems with the perfect tenses, prepositions and run-on sentences. Turns out, they never called me back and I know the answer. Because of this, I thought how's my writing so far? I could write well I believe but could I share what I know about it, really?

What had stopped me from writing? All of these things considered as my reasons but it all boils down to one thing: I still have no definite topic (just kidding!)! Maybe I just wanted to return to my normal way of writing my brouhahas: everything I see, I conquer and I wander in my life. From reviews to celebrations, I will write. And if I keep on writing, my talent will flourish more and more. And from now on, this will be my diskarte to my writing talent! I believe someday, few months or years from now, someone will say "I nailed it!"

I will write again and I will say this last word!

POOR VAMPIRE: Hot water lang sa akin!
WAITER: Bakit hot water lang po?
POOR VAMPIRE: Nakapulot kasi ako ng napkin sa kanto. Magcha-tsaa na lang ako!

JUAN: Oh! Totoo? Saan mo naman nabalitaan yan?
PEDRO: Doon sa burol niya!

JUAN: Tanungin mo ako ng English, sasagutin kita ng Spanish!
PEDRO: Which is more important, heart or mind?
JUAN: Spanish!

Sumulat si Inday sa kanyang ina...
"Dear Mom, Had it not been for the smelling salt, I would have collapsed a moment ago. Junior has become an uncontrollable little monster! Remember when he accidentally fell and hit his head on the marble floor at home last week? A bloody mess that was!
This week, he summoned by the principal of that shabbily run academy for smacking a classmate's face! And the academe--what a pretentious bunch of baboons!
Oh dear, I never imagined being a governess can be such an unbearable source of torturous aggravation.
Your daughter, Inday.
Kinabukasan, sumagot ang tatay ni Inday...
"Dear Inday, WALANGHIYA KA! MAGPADALA KA NG PERA! NASA OSPITAL ANG NANAY MO! DUMUGO ANG ILONG SA KAKABASA NG PESTENG SULAT MO!
Nagmamahal, Itay!

Overnight inaral ng amo ni Inday ang buong diksyunaryo para may pantapat na siya kay Inday na Inglesera...
DONYA: So Inday, tell me, how do you come to terms and accept the inescapable fact that you are just a mere chambermaid in his, my extravagant mansion?
INDAY: Una camarera? Eres tan pathetico. La unican razon que inscribi tu casa es porque nada esta sucendiendo dentro de tu casa cuasi-agradable. Quisiera traer una poce clase en este hogar pero conjeturo que no puedo porque esta casa es fea...
DONYA: GRRRR! (inatake ng epilepsy)

ANAK: Tay, totoo po bang may multo?
TATAY: Anak, walang multo! Bakit mo naitanong?
ANAK: Sabi kasi ni yaya, mayroong multo!
TATAY: Anak naman! Wala tayong yaya!

Battle of the Brains...
DRIVER: Ako! Ako muna!
SATANAS: Anong tanong mo?
DRIVER: Anong araw ako unang nag-drive?
SATANAS: (nag-isip sandali) August 2, 1991
(Boom!
SATANAS: (pinagpawisan) Hmmmm... Sa ika-anim na butas?
JUAN: MALI!!! Sa butas ng puwet ko, tanga! GO TO YOUR OWN HELL! HAHAHA!
SAN PEDRO: Welcome to heaven, Juan!

JUAN: (nag-iisip) Hindi ko alam eh! Ano nga ba?
PEDRO: Eh hindi uod pa rin! Nasa gitna lang naman ng kalsada eh!

Three Brouhaha Years

Oh yeah! It has been three years but I guess having three years is not as significant as five years or ten years or twenty-five years or even a hundred years. But let me have my own significance of celebrating three writing years in my blog.

Three words about myself right now, redemption, upgrading and anew.

I want to redeem myself from the things I failed to accomplish. Lots of broken things that I need to fix, people whom I need to say sorry with, and prayers I love to pray all over again, which I need to redeem myself. I need a total upgrade of my life. I never had vacation since and I need one, I want one. I want new things, new clothes, new bag, new shoes, which will tell me that I upgrade. I want to start a friendship anew. A friendship which there is no pretensions, no qualms, just pure friendship. I failed one, and now I am redeeming it, and more than that, I will upgrade our friendship. Hopefully that this will happen.

Three people who gives me extra inspiration.

Julie Ann Cory Jimenez and Angelica Espana, my two loving super dooper friends who recently graduated in University of Santo Tomas with a degree of Master of Education in Curriculum Design (is it correct?) and as magna cum laude. They inspire me to do best in whatever I am doing. Their secret, not sleeping more than two hours. And powerful Power Point presentation. The other one is Vice Ganda. My idol not because he's gay and he's very famous but of himself being too much honest and frank. That's why he is loved by so many people. That's why he is loved by his friends. That's why he became the asawa of Kris Aquino, nanay of Ryan Bang, Kiray Celis, Dominic Roque and Patrick Sugui, Tutoy to his mother and his brother/s/sister/s. They give me inspiration that boosts me too hard! And I want it for my life!

Three gifts I want to receive right now.

Peace, good health and love. Peace because I want to reconnect again with the person I respect the most. Good health because I'm no longer getting younger and I need to lose weight, seriously. And love because I guess I already moved on and I'm getting ready to meet new people. I am wishing this person to be known personally but as what they say, God gives us the right time!

Three future events I am so much excited to look forward to.

First is the second attempt of Anne Curtis to have a concert at the Araneta Coliseum entitled The Forbidden Concert with hashtag #Annekapal. Next is my newest workplace. I don't know where and I don't know when will I start but I am so much looking forward to it. And the showing of the film version of The Fault In Our Stars, which stars Shailene Woodley and Ansel Egort. My student Kristine Azurin had spoiled me the ending of the story but I am so much excited for this.

Three books I want to read.

One is Leche by R. Zamora Linmark. It is a foreign print but the setting of the story is in the Philippines. Based from my memory and understanding, it is a story of a Fil-Am who went back to the Philippines to search for something. Turns out his adventure became nerve-wracking and heart-pounding. I just don't understand why the title of his novel is Leche and does this mean milk in Spanish or a bad word? The other one is Love and Misadventures by Lang Leav. This was being recommended by my student, Kristine. I went to Fully Booked in Alabang Town Center and I thought it was a love story but full of short but uber-romantic poems about love stories. The third book I wish I could buy and read is Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan. This book intrigues me a lot because it talks about the rich and famous, Asian version. Do they really have the same thinking as the Western socialites or all socialites whether from the Americas or Asia are the same? I want to laugh, I want to learn and somehow, I need to make a research about these!

Three ramen houses in Metro Manila I wanted to dine.

Only in Alabang, at the famous Molito Commercial Complex is Ramen Yushoken. According to the website Our Awesome Planet, they have a limited capacity of 170-200 bowls of ramen per day and there are rumors that they needed to turn down customers and orders because they had already reached the capacity. Their ramen is really an authentic one. Next is Mitsuyado Sei-Men also known as The House of Tsukemen located at 22 Jupiter Street, Makati City. I've seen this Japanese restaurant through KrisTV and I saw how they adorned their ramen. The noodles were smothered with cheese and then you will dip the noodle in the base soup. And lastly is Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen located in the East Wing of Shangri-La Plaza and at the 5th level of SM Aura Premier. They are known for the Black Garlic Tonkotsu ramen (as of this writing, I am licking my lips and really craving for these ramen!) and the basic Ajitama ramen. I don't know how they were prepared, but they taste, I guess, so delicious. I only started as a ramen fan this year because of my cousin-in-law and whenever I have, I make it a point to eat one bowl, from start to finish!

This has been The Brouhahas. Three years have passed and it became significant to me. Now, I wanted to make this blogsite to be synonymous to fun and life-changing. This is, for me, the best vehicle to showcase what I really wanted to do, write.

Thank you for all the readers for reaching more than 24,000 views. I may not have hundreds of followers through Blogger, but sharing what I have in my heart can be as good as three's a charm!

Happy 3rd Anniversary!!!

These Are The Objects

Yesterday, we went back to our alma mater Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila in three important things: to have an instant reunion with BSE-CAE Batch 2008 (and I am calling the attention of these lovely people: Mark Lester Pabilando, Andrew Kenneth Quisumbing, Kristel Tandingan, Kristine Leigh Zablan, and Adrian Hernandez plus Adrian Kristoffer Pitel and Mary Melanie Sumaria, hahaha!), to meet and greet two of our most favorite people in PLM and in CHD, the "notorious," "dreadful," but super dooper awesome and beautiful Ma'am Nerissa Gabelo and our sweet, enchanting and God-fearing mother, Dr. Daisy Hicarte and to watch what was known for Ma'am Gabelo and her partner in crime, Sir Mark Alfred Gutierrez (which happens to be aside from my co-PLMayer, co-Licean also) as an audition for the newly-organized public speaking team. In that activity, the aspirants hold different simple things and they will connect it to their lives. Simple things like staple wire, mirror, ribbon, rope and other different objects, they need to speak out from their creative minds how would they conjugate them to their lives. For me, I got it really interesting and creative, thinking what if I became part of the audition and I got these objects. How would I connect it to my life? Is there any possible connections with these objects and my life?

I was looking around in my room and I saw five, small, simple objects that I would like to try how would I link it to my life. Bet you didn't know that my room is half-organized, half-messy but I don't think it would really reflect me. Well, yes! Now here's the thing, I will describe the purpose of these things and then, will try to look at it differently on how will I link its purpose to my life. Sounds fun, and sounds I Am PoGay, but let's try...

BOOKMARK

The purpose of the bookmark is to mark the page of the book you have stopped. It is a big assistance to the readers because they don't need to look for the last page they have read. With bookmarks, the life of the reader is very easy. I guess that bookmarks is also a great help for the continuous journey of our lives. It serves as a lesson that we need to look back every time we move forward and forget. By the time you remember that lesson you will be used in mistakes or failures you've experienced, there is only a bookmark being left which will give you a reminiscing past that you will use for what you have had. The pages of the book is the life we had and the bookmark serves as the lesson we need to reminisce.

COTTON BUD

We all know its purpose and we all know where should we use this. Good that I didn't take a photo of a used cotton bud because a lot of people are eating. I love using cotton buds because it cleans my ear and at the same time, it tickles me. I may not have a fixation in it but there is an awakening feeling in using it. I need a bigger cotton bud, not because I am a huge dirt or a huge ear, but because I need something to clean my messy, unorganized life. I need to have a perfect time schedule to finish all my tasks and not by procrastinating (which for me is the biggest dirt ever in my life!). I need to clean my whole attitude because for the past days, I am becoming too sensitive and also thirsty for affection and desire (terribly wrong!). I need to clean up my mind on which path I need to go, teaching or writing. Cotton buds are used for cleaning our ears and so is my life who is in a mess and ruins needs to be cleaned up by I don't know who and I don't know how.

MASS STORAGE DEVICE OR USB

In layman's term, we call it USB. For the computer world, they call it simply disk drive or mass storage device in which it can have up to 1 terrabyte (I don't know its equivalence in any kinds of measurements). This is the smallest object you can use if you want to save from important documents or pictures to music or movies. You can choose any sizes of storage from microbytes to gigabytes to what now known as terrabytes. Our life is also as functional as USB because we can store lots of memories (coincidentally, we use the term "memory" for the size of storage we prefer for mass storage devices) and it's more than 1 terrabyte I guess. We can't have the power to store music but we can relate our lives to music, thus becoming too emotional when we hear the lyrics of the song and somehow relating it to our lives. We can't have the power to store films in our brains but our whole life is actually a film. We cried, we laughed, we poked some jokes, we threw dramatic lines, we heard fires and bombs because of the war, so many that real life had pictured all the days of our lives. We can't have the power to store important documents but we remember how we documented our lives. From the time we were born until the time we' are about to bid farewell, they are all documented. Our lives are rich, treasured and perfect because even though we can't store memories in a digital way, we can remember them until eternity.

CLASS RECORD

I am a teacher and I use this. This is, I believe, the second most important tool, after lesson plans, a teacher should have in his or her table or bag because all the hard work, effort and sweat of the students are all here. This is the basis of who will become this year's valedictorian. This is the where we put all the scores of the students they really deserve to have to. This is where we put the proper calculations. Without this, we can't have the people who we look up right now. Thanks to these class records, I do my job very well. I have this, and also my teachers who are my idols also had this and they had put all of my scores, high or low. They made me a better person because of the judgment and the teaching they installed in me. I may never be who I am right now because of them, and because of the class records they owned. Confidentially, my scores are kept and I don't know the exact transmuted score of it. But I guess I don't need to know it because I already found myself. Those grades in the class record were checked, transferred and right now, those grades embody me. And I am finally doing it to the next generation. I'm not sure with them but I truly believe that they are really the answers of the questions of today.

OINTMENT

We use this to treat wounds and scars, thus imperfection in our skin. Some ointments give us agonizing irritation, and others give us cool remedy. Our lives will never become perfect and we all know it. We had so many mistakes done in the past or even continued until now. We need an ointment to heal those imperfections which will give us downfall and discouragement in life. It could be a friend, a special someone, family and yes, our God! It may give you instant relief or a short-term healing but it will last forever. The formulation of this ointment is the people you truly love the most. The indication is to maximize love and forget the ugly wound you had in your life. The dosage for this ointment is endless, no number of usage but forever. How to store this ointment? Just put it in your heart, mind and soul and they will stay fresh!

Now the question is, did I pass? Honestly, it is really hard to do this in a snap but if you have a creative mind, and a creative heart, you'll surely get the right spot. Hopefully I achieved something after I somehow interconnected these five objects to my life (or to our lives!).

God Wants Me To Know

We live by believing, not by seeing. - 2 Corinthians 5:7

I've been following an application on Facebook named as "God Wants You To Know." I don't know who is generating that application and of course, I know someone can give those kinds of words but I truly believe it is a good instrument of God. Sometimes, it really hits me. There are moments that when they give me notifications to read the message from God, seems it does by happenstance and very timely and there are others which it gives me learnings.

This time, I wanted to reflect about my life right now through the messages GWYTK had sent me. In times of troubles, pains and sufferings, we always look forward for reading a message from God coming from the Holy Book and by means of sermons, inspirational words and guidance from Him. With that, we feel we're very close to Him and we believe that He only wants us for the best. Reflecting God's messages is the best way to get near to Him and putting aside the sorrows and pains we experience in our daily lives. I will be choosing five of the best messages I have already shared in Facebook which I totally got touched and mortified.

God wants me to know that beginnings are only possible where there are endings...

Clear acknowledged endings are as necessary to intelligible life, as pauses between notes to intelligible music. Although endings sometimes feel like the end of you, take them for what they really are, the end of a stage in your life. Here is to new beginnings!

There was a moment in my life that I needed to end something because I chose to begin a new chapter to my life. The beginning will only be possible if I ended something which I don't like to go for and through. Some time, I'll be leaving the institution who nurtured me. It's going to be an end of my journey there but with a new job, or career will be a new beginning to me. I only look at it as a chapter of my book just ended and needed to move on to the next chapter because it is something new to work on, to look for and to live in. Now the question is, how is that beginning possible? Numerous answers will surely be said but the only thing which is the best is to start afresh and anew. Enough of what was happening with the life that you had in your previous chapter. You've ended it already! Here is to a new beginning of the journey of life, which is to find a new job, a new working environment, new set of colleagues and professionals, and a new kind of world. The only thing that lacks in this message is the perfect emotion to be felt. For me, I'm balancing nervousness and excitement. It's a passe but every time there's something new in life, you feel nervous because you do not what's going on. It is going to be either right or wrong. Excitement, at the same time, because it is something new. New experiences, new acquaintances, new world. In all this, beginnings are surely possible because the person is ready.

God wants me to know that you can conquer your fears...

When fear is holding back, don't give up. Even the bravest people feel afraid. Courage is not the absence of fear, but the will to go on in spite of it.

For the past years of my life, I couldn't say I already conquered my fears. I don't even know if I did one. In the simplest things which I felt frightened were speaking in front of large crowd, trying to drive a car in expressways, doing an interview with an HR executive, and handling different students with different traits and personalities. In the simplest things I felt, I didn't give up easily because I conquered it. Basically because they're all simple. I never tried doing death-defying acts, going to another place alone and without maps and other ideas, putting myself under the knife, and death. It's true that even the bravest people feel afraid. We're not sure if Dr. Jose Rizal never felt afraid when he was about to fired down at Luneta. We're not sure if Pope Francis never felt anxious to himself to lead the largest religion in the world. We're not sure if first-time mothers never felt giving-up after knowing she was about the deliver the first baby of their family. When there is fear, the only true thing we need to do as humans is to never give up. Giving up means quitting, and quitting means no winning. Conquering fears are like facing reality. If you're not ready to face problems and circumstances in life, you have never even tried conquering your own fears.

God wants me to know that it's okay to ask for help.

Sometimes we get overwhelmed with the details and complexities of our lives. Sometimes we need some help to get untangled, to gain new perspective. Ask for help. Help may come in human or divine form. It may be seen or unseen. Ask, and ye shall receive.

Whenever I commit to do something, I never ever tried to ask for help. I know for a fact that I can do it, I can finish it and the idea is all mine. I just wanted the credits to be all mine but when the time comes I needed help, I doubt about my ability. I have this thinking that when someone tried to help me and doing the things I should do, what I feel is it is not going to be perfect. I am such a perfectionist human being that whenever things are done, it should definitely be correct. Even in situation which I need someone to talk to or to help me. At first, I don't come in and telling to my dear friends I have a problem. I need to wear a smiling mask just to hide what I feel. I feel ashamed at first because I have this thinking that my problem is only as little as a pebble, which everyone has huge problems. This message is an eye-opener for me. There's no reason to shy away asking for help because it is a big deal for me and to the person I am asking for. Yes, God grant me the privilege to be helped and so as to people who are so dear and close to me.

God wants me to know that when you are in doubt, stop and listen.

There is not one question in your life that God is not ready to give you guidance on. All you have to do is stop and listen. Listen long enough to know.

Being doubtful is truly a man-made disaster to character and relationships. You exercise mistrust to people, to society and even to God. When in doubt, do not go further and believe it is not working. When in doubt, do not stop in the middle of nowhere and just rely on the flow of life. Stop and listen, stop on whatever you are doing and listen to Him. Listen long enough to know what is best and what is the right answer. It is truly a sin by having doubts in Him because He knows all for our lives. I am doubting myself so many times because I know myself more than others and I guess more than God. If I couldn't do it, I will let it. Many opportunities have come and gone and so I let it. It is because I doubted myself I cannot do it. There is still disappointment because I let it go. Next time, I will be opening my minds for opportunities and changes in my life. I shouldn't doubt myself anymore because it will lead me to nothing. And I need to stand really strong because that's what God wants us to see. We can stand on our own feet strongly and going further.

God wants me to know that in order to move forward, you must open yourself to new experiences.

There is no failing, only results. Be courageous and push yourself to new heights. Besides, what is going to happen if you made a bad decision? - You will learn from it. The more results you make, the faster you will reach your destination.

My friends always tell me I have a personality of being too relaxed and laid back. I'm always on my comfort zone because I don't want to feel sick and tired. Aside from doubting (from the previous message), I also think I couldn't do it because the requirements are highly-facilitated, I don't fit in, and my abilities, I believe, are not match to it. I don't fully open myself to new experiences because of the factors like time, money, changes and much more. And also, I am afraid of the decisions I am taking. I used to do a bad decision and for the whole year, I was wailing and telling that I didn't accept it from the start. How would I experience it if I didn't step in? How would I have the learnings if from the beginning I didn't try? I'm not courageous enough to experience something new. I just wanted to be like this and that and not exerting effort to try harder and braver. It's true that moving forward is done alongside taking chances and new experiences. Your life will move forward because you embraced changes in your whole life. And that's what I need. Like they say, I'm no longer getting younger, at all!

I know for a fact that God is everywhere. He knows everything from the beginning of our journey to its last phase. He is such an incredible, intelligent and loving Father to all of us. And what we should do in His lessons in life is to live on it. Nothing will surely be gone to Him if we didn't follow. We will just act on what He said that benefits us. And everything will come in order. Just believe!

God, thank You very much for the words of encouragement to live by. You know much about me more than I am and I truly appreciate that. I hope You couldn't stop believing, teaching and tracking me to where my life will lead. I will love You forever and ever. Amen!

Selected Poems (Though Not Really Selected)

I totally admit to my students that I don't like poetry because of expected interpretation and symbolism used by the poet. But I guess it doesn't give me any exemption to write my own poems. So for now, I'll try to make three, from my experiences these past few days, weeks and months.

PING PONG

I am sitting just to look at both sides
Two players smashing a little, pitiful ball
If only that ball could talk and feel sighs
Its face already wounded, truly appalled

One player on the north dances to the tune
The player on the south was brought by air
Sweat from forehead, caused by boon
Both are playing, wanting to be fair

When the ball drops, nowhere to find
When the ball hits someone, I can hear pardon
When the ball hits, all I was to hide
When the ball finds it place, screamingly won

The table is sturdy, quiet and keen
Handling the blazing trails of the action
Up above it, was truly an original sin
But thereupon, works as its foundation

And now I'm sitting chancing to try
This kind of sport, I never used to play
Either way, all I need is to pry
The ball that hits me, came to my dismay

COLD JANUARY NIGHTS

Its the beginning of the year and I need to wear my jacket
The wintry feeling of Siberia comes down here in Manila
Degrees go down and down and down and down
Hugs and coffee is what I need to have right now

How can someone try not to wear anything in this season
I guess all they only think is what's best for fashion
Flavors of any coffee, from Mocha to Americano
Whatever it tastes, even Espresso will never beat the weather

I am now on my hoodie, bet you it makes me warmer
But still I can feel the chills that hints inside my body
All I ask from up above is to just give us a small amount
We need your negatives, but I guess that's already enough

But how I wish January wouldn't end and go further
So that this kind of weather will swoon me forever
Chit-chats and soul-searching! Alas! Best hobbies to date
In this kind of disaster, bet you would appreciate

The night's going shorter and shorter and shorter
So I made something to make it much longer and longer
Praying that the chilly breeze will embrace all throughout
Because I am proud to say, I love our own winter time

But weather like this truly comes and goes
So I say thank you for making my life worth living
The January nights are about to end its successful near
Next, we will be welcoming the scorching heat of April

ANG BUHAY NG ISANG NAGTUTURO SA ISANG NATATANGING PANGKAT

papasok sa loob ng klasrum
mistulang parang galit
mali ang pagbati
imbis na tagalog
ingles ang ginamit

binigyan ng pagkakataon
magsama-sama ang pangkat
ngunit anong ginawa
imbis na mag-usap
tuluyang nagpariwara

kinuha ang marker
sa aking lalagyan
ako'y may isusulat
na talagang kailangan
ngunit hindi nila kailangan

sige lang, sige lang
ang sabi ng nagtuturo
ituloy lang ang ligaya
ngunit bahala kayo
sa huli ako tatawa

iba ang nangyari sa pisara
ako'y may isinulat
walang kumopya
imbis na lapis ang gamit
bibig ang pinambura

nakakagalit at nakakairita
sa sobrang pahiya
ako'y naging higante
tinadyakan ang lamesa
wala akong pakialam

ngayon ang tahimik
nang buong paligid
aaminin kong naaalala ko
ang kanilang panimula
nang sila'y musmos pa

hindi alam kung kailan
mangyayari ang mangyayari
basta papasok ako
sa loob ng silid ko
bilang kanilang nagtuturo

Meron Nang Iba

Silent Sanctuary featuring Ashley Gosiengfiao

Mahirap bang pumili at magpasya
Hindi ba dapat mahal mong mauuna
Kaya ngayon, 'di na kita makilala
Kamusta ka na?

Darating din sa akin
Malilimutan kita
Subukan mong pilitin
Baka nga 'di tayong dalawa

Nanlalamig na damdamin
Kay tagal mo kasing nawala
Sa araw na umuwi ka
Meron na akong iba
Meron na akong iba

Apat na buwan, marami pang hindi alam
Pasensya na, umalis ng ganoon na lang
Siguro nga, hindi ko 'to napag-isipan
At biglang lumayo

Darating din sa akin
Nawa'y magiging akin ka
Subukan mang pilitin

Malilimutan kita
Subukan mang pilitin
Talagang 'di tayong dalawa

Napagod na ang damdamin
Kay tagal mong nawala
Sa araw na umuwi ka
Meron na akong iba...
Meron na akong iba...

Meron ka na bang iba?
Meron na akong iba...
