Wedding is one of the most significant celebrations of a person. You might say that this occasion could be very elaborate, lavish and of course, splurgy. But for two people who are bound to become together forever, there is nothing wrong for the expenditures, foods, guests, gowns and so much more.
Today, April 29, 2011, marks the most historical event of the said year, and this is the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Almost one billion people are very excited to see watching a momentous event on television and of course, Great Britain. Honestly, I really don't understand why our country, the Philippines, is also excited with these event. History speaks that we never had any connections with England before, though they had tried acquiring the country from the Spaniards. For younger generations, including myself, we would like to encounter and experience a wedding that is considered an extraordinary, exceptional and of course, royal.
Who would have thought that a royal-blooded celebrity in the person of Prince William, the son of Prince Charles of Wales and the late Lady Diana Spencer, would romantically fall in love with her best friend, a commoner Kate Middleton. According to Wikipedia, in British law, a commoner is someone who is neither the Sovereign nor a peer. He or she came from an ordinary family, who has no relation to any of the monarchs in Britain or in other countries. In the case of Catherine, she is only a commoner whom Prince William have known her from the school and fell in love, broke twice, then came back again and now, they are married and still totally and wonderfully in love with each other.
According to some, the last time the whole world witnessed a royal wedding was in 1981 between Prince Charles and then Diana Spencer. Though their marriage has lots of intrigues and controversies, the idea of a royal wedding was in full swing. A commoner girlfriend will be getting married to a crowned prince, that's really absurd! Their marriage did not last for long and Diana, Princess of Wales died due to car accident in Paris on 31st August, 1997. Prince Charles married his first love, Camilla Parker-Bowles, who was also a commoner.
Hopefully they could read this post of mine, and I could greet them congratulations and best wishes and try to make their family royally and peacefully, as what most of the people are also wishing for them. Congratulations, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge!
